Sicily’s Romantic Road: a travel itinerary through the heart of the Island
Detail
Conceived on the initiative of architect Antonio Sabelli, the “Romantic Road of Sicily” route is much more than a tourist trail: it is a true journey into the authentic soul of Sicily, stretching 220 km through nature, culture, and legends. It begins with the famous Roman mosaics of the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina and ends, as its final stop, in the enchanting seaside village of Cefalù, one of the most romantic places in the region. Stop by stop, the “Romantic Road of Sicily” winds through quiet hills, mythological lakes, and villages frozen in time, offering travelers an immersive “slow tourism” experience.
The Romantic Road of Sicily connects the inland areas to the sea and can be traveled by any means: by car or motorcycle, but also by bicycle and on foot, if you wish to combine the journey with outdoor walking. Additionally, along the route you can sample typical local products, combining your visit with the tasting of Sicily’s finest culinary delights. How many stops are there along the Romantic Road of Sicily, and what are they? Let’s find out together!
