This agricultural practice is a unique example of vine cultivation, handed down from generation to generation in the Pantelleria community. Pantelleria vine saplings are kept low and sheltered by a hollow in the ground created to encourage grape production and preserve the life of the plant from adverse weather conditions
– yet another Sicilian UNESCO accolade.
