Tindari Path

Detail

The Tindari Path represents one of the oldest and most heartfelt pilgrimages in the region, attracting believers from all over the world.

The pilgrimage to the “Madonna Nera di Tindari” (“Nigra sum sed formosa”, Song of Songs) is today a religious itinerary combining faith, art and nature, starting from Mojo Alcantara, in the province of Messina, and ending in Patti.

Devotion to the “Madonna Bruna” (from the dark colour of the statue) moves hundreds of pilgrims every year, who cross the Peloritani on foot and reach the last uphill stretch barefoot. Usually, out of devotion, the pilgrimage is carried out at night, in a single stage.
