Historic Trains in Sicily 2026

Dettaglio

From 11 October to 20 December 2026, historic trains are returning to Sicily with 12 journeys to explore the island’s villages, cities of art, archaeological sites and coastal and inland landscapes.

Travelling aboard historic locomotives and vintage carriages, passengers will be able to visit some of Sicily’s most fascinating destinations, with departures from Palermo, Messina, Catania, Syracuse and Caltanissetta. The planned itineraries include the ‘Ferrovia dei Templi’  (Temples Railway) to Porto Empedocle, the ‘Ferrovia del Barocco’ (Baroque Railway) between Syracuse and Modica, as well as routes to Santo Stefano di Camastra, Tusa, Taormina and Castelvetrano.

A different way to explore the island, allowing the journey itself to become part of the experience, taking in landscapes, historic town centres and places linked to Sicilian culture and traditions.

Tickets are available through all Trenitalia channels, from the website and app to ticket offices, self-service ticket machines and travel agencies. On the Fondazione FS Italiane website, you can view the full timetable, including timings, routes and useful information.

The initiative is organised by the Sicilian Regional Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, in collaboration with Fondazione FS Italiane and FS Treni Turistici Italiani.
