EYEXEI 2026

Detail

From 9 to 13 July 2026, the archaeological sites of Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale will provide the evocative backdrop for EYEXEI 2026, a festival dedicated to classical theatre that weaves together the performing arts, memory and landscape in the heart of Sicily. Following the success of the first edition, the event returns with a programme that breathes new life into the great works of ancient tradition, in dialogue with sites of extraordinary historical and cultural value.

Organised by the Municipality of Aidone and the Archaeological Park of Morgantina and Villa Romana del Casale, under the artistic direction of Michele Di Dio, the festival presents performances inspired by the myths and dramas of Greek theatre. Among the events on the programme is the national premiere of Euripides’ ‘The Trojan Women’, directed by Daniele Salvo at the Ancient Theatre of Morgantina, alongside ‘Prometheus’ and ‘The Odyssey’, staged amidst the monumental ruins of ancient Sicily.

EYEXEI thus reaffirms itself as a cultural project capable of combining artistic exploration with the promotion of the local area, offering the public an immersive experience where theatre meets history, the landscape and the timeless charm of the archaeological sites of the Sicilian hinterland.
