Etna Wine Route
Dettaglio
The Etna Wine Route invites visitors to discover the Etna area through two wine tourism experiences combining volcanic landscapes, local traditions and tastings of outstanding local products. Among vineyards, historic villages and views stretching from the mountain to the sea, visitors can choose between the evocative Etna Wine Train and the convenient Etna Wine Bus, two itineraries designed to experience Europe’s highest volcano through its flavours and wineries.
The Etna Wine Train, available until 28 November 2026, offers a journey aboard the historic Ferrovia Circumetnea railway along the slopes of the volcano. The tour departs from Linguaglossa station and combines the charm of train travel with transfers by Wine Bus, taking participants to discover two wineries and a historic village between Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo. The experience includes tastings of Etna DOC wines paired with typical local products, insights into the area provided by specialised guides, and views alternating between vineyards, lava flows and glimpses of the sea. Departures are scheduled every Thursday and Saturday from March to November.
The Etna Wine Bus, running until 20 December 2026, offers a full-day itinerary departing from the centre of Catania. The route passes through the Riviera dei Ciclopi and climbs the south-eastern slope of Mount Etna, through heroic vineyards and olive groves, with stops at two local producers where visitors can tour wineries and olive mills and taste Etna DOC wines paired with local culinary specialities. Accompanied by an expert guide, participants discover the history, nature and food-and-wine culture of the volcano in an experience that brings together sea, mountain and Sicilian traditions. The service is available every Wednesday and Sunday from April to December, with departures from Piazza Scammacca, Piazza Stesicoro or Catania Central Station.
