Magie Barocche 2026
Dettaglio
From 25 October to 10 December 2026, the Val di Noto International Festival ‘Magie Barocche’ returns to Catania for its 16th edition. The festival offers a journey through early and Baroque music, featuring concerts, the rediscovery of historical scores and performances by internationally renowned musicians and ensembles.
At the heart of the Festival is Biscari Palace, alongside the Auditorium of the “Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatoire of Music, which also hosts talks and in-depth activities dedicated to performance practice and musicological research. The programme focuses in particular on the repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries, featuring contemporary premieres of works by Giovanni Legrenzi, marking the 400th anniversary of his birth, and Bernardo Pasquini’s opera ‘La donna è ancora fedele’, 350 years after its first performance.
Alongside the rediscovery of historical repertoire, there is no shortage of encounters between different musical traditions, such as the dialogue between Antonio Vivaldi’s ‘Le Quattro Stagioni’ and Astor Piazzolla’s ‘Las Cuatro Estaciones’. Also on the programme is ‘Le goût parisien’, dedicated to music from the Ancien Régime to the Revolution, whilst the closing concert features pianist Ramin Bahrami, performing works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The double-concert format is also back, with two performances on the same evening, at 7.00 pm and 8.30 pm, interspersed with a wine-tasting session.
