Enrico Maltese

In Modica, from 10 January to 30 January 2026, the Museo ibleo delle arti e tradizioni popolari “S. A. Guastella” at Palazzo dei Mercedari presents the exhibition “Enrico Maltese. Painter and Photographer in Modica between the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century”.

Curated by Andrea Guastella, the show features paintings and photographs by Enrico Maltese (1862-1920) from private collections, highlighting his ethnographic focus on town views and portraits of villagers and workers.

The exhibition offers a fresh insight into this artist’s role in Sicilian culture and Italian art at the turn of the century.
