Castello di Lombardia
Detail
The Castello di Lombardia is one of the historical symbols of Enna and one of the largest medieval castles in Sicily. Located on the summit of Mount Polizo, it offers an extraordinary panoramic view of the entire province and the surrounding hills. The structure, built between the 9th and 12th centuries, played a strategic role in the defense of the city and still preserves towers, courtyards, and ancient walls that tell centuries of military history. Walking among the ramparts and internal passageways means immersing yourself in a unique medieval atmosphere, where every stone tells the story of Arab, Norman, and Swabian domination. In addition to its historical value, the castle is also an extraordinary vantage point, perfect for admiring unforgettable sunsets and taking breathtaking photographs.
