About 15 km from Ragusa lies the fairytale Donnafugata Castle, a sumptuous 19th-century residence surrounded by extensive grounds. Despite its name, it is not a real medieval castle, but a noble residence that has inspired stories, myths, and curiosities over the centuries. The palace has over one hundred rooms, many of which retain their original furnishings, frescoes, and decorations that bear witness to the life of the Sicilian aristocracy. The garden features a famous stone maze, pergolas, and panoramic viewpoints offering extraordinary views of the Ragusa countryside.
