Snowshoeing is a walk in fresh snow with snowshoes. Walking in the snow means discovering an enchanted landscape and a sleeping nature in which the visitor will be enraptured and transported to a surreal dimension in which tranquillity and peace will invade one’s state of mind far from the noise and chaos of the city.
The itineraries for snowshoeing at Piano Battaglia are simple and not very demanding to give all students the opportunity to participate and discover the fairy-tale world of the mountains with snow.
The routes, which will be chosen from time to time depending on the weather conditions, all start from Piano Battaglia and
some of them may reach the highest peaks of the Madonie (Monte Ferro, Mufara, Pizzo Principessa and Pizzo Carbonara). The routes will last about four hours.
For snowshoeing, it is necessary to be equipped with waterproof high-necked trekking shoes or rigid après-ski boots, gaiters
warm clothing (dress like an onion), windbreaker, gloves, wool cap or neck band, sunglasses, small rucksack with water, food (sandwiches, dried fruit, biscuits, energy drinks) and medicines and personal accessories.

PLACE OF ACTIVITY: Piano Battaglia, a hamlet in the municipality of Petralia Sottana. It is located in the heart of the Madonie massif, between the mountain complex of Pizzo Carbonara (1979 m a.s.l.) and Monte Mufara (1865 m a.s.l.).
