Tindari Festival 2026
Detail
From 3 July to 30 August 2026, the Ancient Theatre of Tindari and numerous iconic venues across the Messina area will host the 70th edition of the Tindari Festival, one of Italy’s longest-running and most prestigious cultural events. Directed by Mario Incudine, the festival celebrates this important anniversary with the theme ‘Abumanesimo – being, not being, perishing’, a tribute to the thought and figure of Beniamino Joppolo.
With thirty-three events and fourteen national premieres, the programme weaves together classical and contemporary theatre, music, dance, cultural encounters and travelling performances, transforming Tindari and the surrounding villages into a vast, widespread artistic laboratory. Among the expected guests are Biagio Antonacci, Eleonora Abbagnato, Aldo Cazzullo, Moni Ovadia, Pamela Villoresi and numerous leading figures from the Italian theatre and music scene.
The festival is divided into the sections Tindari Classica, Music, Special, Itinerant, Extra and Off, fostering a continuous dialogue between archaeological heritage, the performing arts and contemporary reflection. Set between the sea and the sacred promontory of Tindari, the event reaffirms its role as a cultural space open to dialogue, remembrance and artistic experimentation, confirming Sicily’s central place in the panorama of major Mediterranean festivals.
