Florio Icons – Three special works on exhibition

From 25 to 27 September 2026, the Florio Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts in Palermo celebrates its first anniversary with the temporary exhibition “Icone Florio”, an exhibition bringing together three works linked to the history, imagery and memory of the Florio family.

The exhibition exceptionally presents to the public the 1895 portrait of Franca Florio by Guglielmo Rapp, the bust of Ignazio Florio senior created by Benedetto Civiletti in 1894, and a 19th-century painting by Leo Bibens belonging to the Sicilian School. The works on display come from private collections that are normally not accessible to the public.

During the three days of the event, admission to the Museum will be available at the special price of 1 euro. On Saturday 26 September, an extraordinary evening opening is also planned until 1:00 am, with a midnight toast to celebrate the Museum’s first anniversary.

On Sunday 27 September, at 10:00 am, the guided tour “The Florio Family within the Empire of Luxury. Between Industries and Residences” will depart from Piazza Principe di Camporeale – Giardino Maya. The itinerary dedicated to the history of the Florio family will end with a visit to the Museum and the exhibition. Participation is by reservation, with a maximum of 20 participants.

An event dedicated to the memory of one of the most representative families in Sicilian history, through artworks, stories and places connected to Palermo’s cultural heritage.
