The 2023 edition of the Castelbuono Jazz Festival expands and becomes a regional jazz festival which – from 16 July to 26 August – brings great music around Sicily, with the creation of the Nick La Rocca Festival, in homage to the Sicilian artist -American who was the first in history to record a jazz record.
From Castelbuono, which for 26 years has hosted one of the longest-running music festivals in Italy, to Gangi and Salaparuta – the birthplace of Nick La Rocca’s family – from Piazza Armerina and other Sicilian municipalities, each with its own programming, the festival hosts many national and international musicians including Paolo Fresu, Toquinho, Roberto Gatto, Roy Paci, Daria Biancardi, Giacomo Tantillo and many others.
An edition that this year, by the will of the artistic director Angelo Butera, is dedicated to the memory of Maurilio Prestia
