Antonio Santacroce. Master of imagination and matter

Detail

From 20 February to 30 April 2026, the Museum of Sicilian Knowledge and Wonders at the University of Catania will host the exhibition “Antonio Santacroce. Master of Imagination and Matter”, dedicated to one of the most influential figures in contemporary Sicilian art.

The exhibition, organised by the University of Catania, the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania and the Antonio Santacroce – Culture del Mediterraneo Foundation, offers a retrospective and anthological journey through the artist’s many creative expressions: painting, engraving, sculpture, set design and design. The project highlights little-explored aspects of his work, with numerous unpublished works and a particular focus on research into materials, papers and engraving techniques. Between archaeological memory and Mediterranean imagery, Santacroce’s works reveal a poetic universe populated by symbolic and visionary figures, suspended between myth, dream and contemporary life.

The exhibition is an opportunity to discover the artistic journey of a master capable of combining tradition and experimentation, offering an original perspective on the cultural identity of the Mediterranean.

The exhibition will be open at the following times: Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
