Neapolis Archaeological Park
Detail
The Neapolis Archaeological Park is one of the most extraordinary places in Sicily and the center of Greek Syracuse. Here you will find monuments that bear witness to the power, wealth, and political and cultural role that Syracuse played in the ancient Mediterranean. The park is home to the magnificent Greek Theater, one of the largest and best preserved in the world, carved directly into the rock of the Temenite hill and still used today for shows, tragedies, and classical performances during the theater season.
Next to the theater is the imposing Roman Amphitheater, once used for gladiatorial games, and the famous Latomia del Paradiso, a stone quarry transformed into a natural garden, featuring the famous Ear of Dionysius, an artificial cavity famous for its amplified acoustics and the legends surrounding it. Walking through Neapolis means taking a journey through time, between myth and history, immersed in a landscape that combines archaeology, nature, and timeless charm.
