Sicily 2026: Blue Flag Beaches

Description

In 2026, Sicily counts 16 Blue Flag municipalities: 14 confirmations and 2 new entries, Ispica and Lipari.

The award, assigned every year by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), recognises seaside tourist destinations that meet criteria related to water quality, sustainable land management, services and safety.

New entries in 2026: Ispica and Lipari

The new Sicilian Blue Flags for 2026 are Ispica, in the province of Ragusa, and Lipari, in the province of Messina.

Ispica enters the list with Santa Maria del Focallo, while Lipari receives the award for the beaches of Vulcano Gelso, Acqua Calda, Canneto, Vulcano Acque Termali and Stromboli Ficogrande.

Ten Blue Flag municipalities in the province of Messina

The province of Messina is the Sicilian province with the highest number of municipalities awarded in 2026: ten out of sixteen.

  • Alì Terme
  • Roccalumera
  • Furci Siculo
  • Taormina — Mazzeo district
  • Letojanni
  • Nizza di Sicilia

In these locations, water quality, service management and tourist hospitality are a reference model for coastal tourism in southern Italy.

Blue Flag beaches in the Ragusa area

In the province of Ragusa, there are five Blue Flag municipalities:

  • Modica
  • Ispica
  • Pozzallo
  • Scicli
  • Ragusa

The awarded beaches are Maganuco and Marina di Modica in Modica, Santa Maria del Focallo in Ispica, Pietre Nere and Raganzino in Pozzallo, Sampieri – Pisciotto in Scicli and Marina di Ragusa.

Menfi confirmed in the province of Agrigento

In the province of Agrigento, Menfi is confirmed, with the beaches of Lido Fiori Bertolino and Porto Palo Cipollazzo.
