Palermo Marathon 2026

The Palermo Marathon returns on 15 November 2026 for its 31st edition, reaffirming its status as one of the most important sporting events on the national running calendar. Organised by ASD Media@ and included in the FIDAL national calendar, the event combines sport, culture and the promotion of the local area through the theme ‘Per…Corriamo l’Arte!’, which transforms the race into a journey of discovery through the city’s artistic and scenic treasures.

The event offers a programme open to a wide range of participants, featuring the traditional 42.195-kilometre marathon, the half-marathon and the 4×10.5 km relay, giving professionals, amateurs and teams the chance to enjoy a day of sport in the heart of the Sicilian capital.

The race starts from Piazza Ruggero Settimo, from where the route passes through some of Palermo’s most iconic landmarks. Athletes run along Viale della Libertà, through Parco della Favorita, reach the Mondello seafront and head back towards the historic centre, passing iconic sights such as the Quattro Canti, the Royal Palace and Via Maqueda. This route combines the city’s monumental charm with views of the sea and urban greenery, offering a unique experience within the Italian road racing scene.

The marathon consists of two laps of the course, whilst the half-marathon covers one lap, allowing participants to experience a route that showcases Palermo’s historical, cultural and scenic identity. The 2026 edition also features a new graphic design inspired by the city’s artistic heritage, reinforcing the link between sport and the promotion of the local area.

The Palermo Marathon is thus much more than a sporting competition: it is an opportunity to discover the city from a different perspective, running past monuments, parks and Mediterranean vistas along a route that celebrates the art, history and energy of Sicily.
