Ypsigrock Festival 2026

From 6 to 9 August 2026, Castelbuono will host the 29th edition of the Ypsigrock Festival, Italy’s first boutique festival and one of the most popular events on the European indie and alternative scene. Founded in 1997 by a group of young music enthusiasts, the festival has transformed this village in the Madonie mountains into an international destination that successfully blends musical innovation, local identity and a sense of community.

Nestled amongst the Madonie mountains and just a few kilometres from the sea, Ypsigrock welcomes thousands of music lovers from across Europe every year. Its strength lies in the immersive experience that combines concerts, art, exploration of the local area and the characteristic ‘Ypsi & Love’ spirit – an informal, participatory atmosphere that fosters connections between artists, the audience and the local community.

The heart of the event is Piazza Castello, where the Ypsi Once Stage, the festival’s main stage, comes to life. Here, between the Ventimiglia Castle, the Medieval Arch and the picturesque staircase of the historic centre, international artists perform in one of Sicily’s most evocative locations. The Ypsi & Love Stage is set in the cloister of the former Convent of San Francesco, an intimate and charming setting hosting concerts and performances in a cosy and engaging atmosphere. Among the festival’s most exclusive experiences is the Mr. Y Stage, set up inside the former Church of the Crucifix, a Baroque space transformed into a unique venue for live performances and special showcases. At the festival’s official campsite, meanwhile, is the Cuzzocrea Stage, dedicated to after-shows, DJ sets and parties that go on until late at night. The musical programme is rounded off by various pop-up stages scattered throughout the village streets and the grounds of the Castello dei Ventimiglia. Thanks to a collaboration with the Castelbuono Civic Museum, during the festival evenings the castle’s façade also becomes a vast artistic canvas brought to life by video projections and visual installations created specifically for the event.

With concerts, contemporary art, talks and settings of extraordinary beauty, Ypsigrock continues to stand out as one of the most original and recognisable festivals on the European music scene, capable of transforming Castelbuono into a true capital of independent culture for four days.
