PIERO GUCCIONE – LEONARDO SCIASCIA. CRONACA PITTORICA DI UNA AMICIZIA
DETAIL
A unique exhibition titled “Piero Guccione – Leonardo Sciascia. Cronaca pittorica di una amicizia”, curated by Sergio Troisi, celebrates in Marsala the profound bond between Piero Guccione and Leonardo Sciascia, two prominent figures in 20th-century Sicilian culture.
A journey through art, words, and Sicily that narrates the deep human and intellectual connection between the master of figurative painting and the writer from Racalmuto.
Over fifty works by Guccione – oils, pastels, and drawings from private collections – engage in dialogue with handwritten letters exchanged between the two over twenty years, revealing mutual respect, shared thoughts, and sensitivities. The exhibition, promoted by the Ente Mostra di Pittura Contemporanea “Città di Marsala” and the Piero Guccione Archive, also honors the 90th anniversary of the artist’s birth.
The exhibition also features ten black-and-white photographs by Giuseppe Leone, who passed away in 2024, the first to perceive the affinity between Guccione and Sciascia, capturing the Sicily they both deeply loved. An unmissable opportunity to rediscover, through art and words, an extraordinary intellectual friendship and a timeless Sicily.
