Norman Palio 2025

In Piazza Armerina, the Palio dei Normanni, a historical re-enactment of the entry, in the ancient city of Plutia, of the Norman militia led by Roger of Altavilla to free the Christian population from the Saracens, takes place from August 12 to 14 each year.

The event takes place over three days and involves about 600 figures including ladies, notables, knights and Norman troops led by Count Roger the Norman, all in medieval costume parading through the streets of the city. The highlight of the event is the Quintana (which takes place on the last day), the thrilling equestrian joust between the city’s four districts that compete for the Palio.
