Frazzanò Folk Fest 2025
description
From 18 to 20 July 2025, the charming village of Frazzanò, in the province of Messina, will host the ninth edition of the Frazzanò Folk Fest, a music festival that celebrates the union between tradition and modern global influences through world music. Promoted by the Municipality of Frazzanò and the Union of Nebrodi Municipalities, the event is one of the most significant cultural dates of the Sicilian summer.
A festival dedicated to music and Mediterranean identity
The Frazzanò Folk Fest aims to highlight folk music in all its expressions, offering a journey through Mediterranean sounds, Sicilian heritage, and global musical evolution. In a setting of rare natural and architectural beauty, the festival offers three evenings of free concerts featuring national and international artists who blend tradition and innovation.
The artistic programme
The 2025 edition features a rich and high-quality programme. On Friday 18 July, the festival opens with Alessandra Salerno & NoQuiet Woman Orchestra, the first all-female soul-folk orchestra in Europe, paying tribute to Rosa Balistreri, a symbol of Sicilian music. On Saturday 19 July, the stage will welcome Katadeo, a group that blends ethnic, Afro, funk and house sounds, followed by Eugenio Bennato, a pioneer of Southern Italian music, with a performance dedicated to intercultural dialogue and the modern relevance of traditions. The festival concludes on Sunday 20 July with Carlo Maver, a flutist and bandoneonist who will take the audience on a musical journey through tango, minimalism and sacred atmospheres.
Culture, craftsmanship and the territory
In addition to the music performances, the festival features the “Mercanzie” craft village, showcasing local craftsmanship, traditional products and ancient trades. This is an opportunity to promote Nebrodi excellence and engage local communities in a celebration that unites culture, sustainability and intangible heritage.
An authentic experience in the heart of the Nebrodi
The Frazzanò Folk Fest is an invitation to discover the most authentic Sicily, surrounded by natural and historical beauty. Frazzanò, with its churches, ancient alleys and the Monastery of San Filippo di Fragalà, becomes an open-air stage where music and nature meet in perfect harmony. Admission is free for all events, reinforcing the commitment to inclusive and accessible culture.
