Feast of St. George in Ragusa 2025

The Feast of St. George of Ragusa is a festivity deeply felt by the citizens and among all religious festivals is the one with the most popular and folkloric features.

During the days of Friday and Saturday there are processions of St. George and with the Holy Ark. On Sunday, after Mass, the band crosses Ragusa Ibla playing in anticipation of the noon fireworks, the great fireworks display. In the afternoon, the two municipal bands accompanied by flag-wavers perform through the streets of the city, but everyone waits for the exit of St. George. In the evening, after the solemn mass, the procession can start: the exit of St. George is greeted by thousands of citizens and visitors throwing balloons and fireworks while waiting for the “ballad of the saint.”
