Expo Arte dei Due Mari 2026

From 26 September to 24 October 2026, Messina hosts Expo Arte dei Due Mari, the cultural project connecting the two shores of the Strait through art, architecture, cinema, theatre and other contemporary forms of expression. In Reggio Calabria, the event will instead take place from 3 to 18 October.

The theme chosen for the 2026 edition is “Connections”, referring to the link between Messina and Reggio Calabria and, more broadly, to the dialogue between territories, communities and different forms of artistic expression.

The programme transforms the Strait into a widespread museum and a space for multidisciplinary exchange, with exhibitions, meetings, short films, theatre, architectural projects and initiatives dedicated to contemporary creativity.

Particular attention is given to young artists, through a section dedicated to Under 30s, and to architecture, with projects focusing on sustainable urban regeneration, public space and new forms of interaction with the territory.

The 2026 edition also explores the theme “Eco-compatibility. Towards a possible balance”, encouraging reflection on the relationship between art, environment and communities.

A calendar of events that brings Messina and Reggio Calabria together through works, ideas and projects, creating a shared cultural journey on the two shores of the Strait.
