Castelbuono Jazz Festival 2025

Description

From July 30 to August 21, 2025, one of the most anticipated musical events of the Sicilian summer returns: the Castelbuono Jazz Festival, now in its 28th edition. An event that blends music, culture, and landscape in the splendid setting of the medieval village of Castelbuono, one of the most charming in Sicily.

A tribute to two legends of the 20th century – Andrea Camilleri and Pino Daniele – will be the theme of this year’s edition, once again under the artistic direction of Angelo Butera, who promises a program full of emotion and major names from the international jazz scene.

Jazz, culture, and nature: a festival that enchants

The festival will open on July 30 with an evocative environmental concert in the Madonie Park, under the shade of ash trees. On stage, the newly formed JFP Madonie Orchestra, composed of 22 talented Sicilian musicians, will kick off a program filled with exciting concerts, masterclasses, conferences, and musical tributes.

On August 1, in the magnificent Prince’s Hall of the Ventimiglia Castle, a special conference entitled “The Sicily of Andrea Camilleri” will honor the late author, with debates, readings, and performances. The event is part of the centennial celebrations of Camilleri’s birth, a writer who deeply loved jazz and Sicilian culture.

Masterclasses and tributes to Pino Daniele

Pino Daniele, a Mediterranean blues icon, will be honored through a special masterclass where participants will perform arrangements of his most beloved songs. The experience will culminate on August 21 with a final concert by the teachers and students of the Advanced School of Jazz Music, named after Claudio Lo Cascio.

Main concerts in Piazza Margherita

The beating heart of the festival will be the historic Piazza Margherita, at the foot of the castle, where the main concerts will take place:

  • August 16: Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello – “Il cielo è pieno di stelle”, a tribute to Pino Daniele.
  • August 17: Francesco Bearzatti – “Viva De André”, a journey through jazz and civil commitment.
  • August 18: “Colazione da Tiffany” with Giuliana Di Liberto and top jazz performers, a tribute to the queens of American music.
  • August 19: Joe Lovano, living saxophone legend, with Ivo Perelman.
  • August 20: Stefano Di Battista – “La dolce vita”, a musical tale of Italy’s golden age.
  • August 21: Closing concert with the masterclass performers.

Castelbuono and the value of culture

The Castelbuono Jazz Festival is a shining example of cultural tourism in Sicily, attracting music lovers from across Italy and beyond. Thanks to the commitment of the local community and institutions, supported by the Sicilian Regional Department for Tourism, Sport and Entertainment, the festival has become a Mediterranean jazz reference point.

Investing in culture pays off,” says Mayor Mario Cicero, emphasizing how art and participation have become key to Castelbuono’s identity.
