Carnevale Termitano

The oldest  Sicilian Carnival  returns to Termini Imerese from 23 February to 4 March. The two masks that symbolize this ancient Carnival, “u nannu ca nanna” (the grandfather with the grandmother) arrived in Termini at the beginning of the nineteenth century through some Neapolitan families called the Napuliti by the locals.

The tradition of allegorical floats is the beating heart of the Carnival of Termini Imerese, the result of the art and passion of extraordinary papier-mâché masters. With expert hands and a lot of creativity they transform dreams and ideas into real works of art that will parade through the streets of the city in the most awaited days of the year.
