Alfredo Pirri. Doing Things
Detail
From 19 April to 30 September 2026, the Brodbeck Foundation in Catania is hosting the exhibition “Fare Cose” (Doing Things) by Alfredo Pirri, curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and Gianluca Collica.
Set within the post-industrial spaces of the former liquorice factory in the historic district of San Cristoforo, the exhibition takes the form of a highly impactful site-specific project, capable of engaging in a profound dialogue with the identity of the location. The exhibition itinerary, of monumental proportions, weaves together historical works and previously unseen pieces into a single immersive narrative, where past and present merge in a continuous reflection on the meaning of contemporary art.
Installations, paintings, sculptures and projects guide the visitor through an all-encompassing sensory experience, in which the space becomes an integral part of the artwork. At the heart of Pirri’s exploration lies the relationship between art and architecture, understood as a tension between matter, light and environment: a dialogue that transforms the artwork into a space to be traversed, rather than merely observed.
The use of materials linked to the Sicilian territory, such as Lentini tuff, helps to create new layers of meaning, weaving a narrative that intertwines memory, landscape and contemporary vision.
The exhibition is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm (last admission at 7.30 pm). Group visits and special openings are available by booking.
