The Feast of Saint Anne in Castelbuono is one of the most heartfelt religious and popular celebrations of medieval Sicily, blending spirituality, historical reenactment, and spectacle.
At the center of the worship is the Holy Skull of Saint Anne, carried in a solemn procession through the streets of the village, accompanied by statues and brotherhoods in traditional attire.
The most evocative moment is the Keys Procession, a historical reenactment featuring participants in period costumes and culminating in the symbolic handing over of the city’s keys.
The program also includes concerts, fireworks, one of the oldest footraces in Europe, and a rich calendar of religious celebrations.
