Frontiere Sonore 2026 – Music on the outskirts of Catania’s suburbs

From 13 September to 11 December 2026, Frontiere Sonore – Music at the Boundaries of Urban Peripheries returns to Catania, a project by the Darshan Cultural Association bringing concerts, workshops and participatory activities to the neighbourhoods of San Cristoforo, Picanello, San Giorgio and Librino.

Music is the common thread of a programme designed to enhance urban outskirts and transform everyday places into spaces for meeting, artistic expression and participation. Music workshops, performances, concerts and community events become opportunities to connect different generations, languages and cultural heritages.

The project is divided into three sections: #FrontiereGiovani, #FrontiereClassiche and #FrontiereContemporanee. It begins on 13 September in San Cristoforo with Ethno Sicily – Jazzlab, the final concert of an international artistic residency bringing together more than twenty young musicians from different countries.

The programme continues on 24 September in Piazza Dante with Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino & Inude, on 9 October with Himmerland at Tinni Tinni Arts Club and, throughout November, with four events dedicated to the #FrontiereClassiche section.

In December, #FrontiereContemporanee returns with music, training and community activities. Highlights include 7 December at the Church of Santa Maria della Salute, 8 December at the Church of San Nicolò l’Arena with the Naghash Ensemble, and 11 December at I.C. San Giorgio with the closing concert by the Ensemble I Linguaggi del Ritmo.

All concerts are free of charge.
