Palermo–Montecarlo Regatta 2026

From 18 to 23 August 2026, the Palermo-Montecarlo returns – one of the most prestigious offshore regattas in the Mediterranean, now in its 21st edition. Organised by the Circolo della Vela Sicilia, the competition attracts crews and yachts from numerous countries every year, cementing its status as one of the most important events in international offshore sailing.

Setting sail from the Gulf of Palermo and finishing in the Principality of Monaco, the race takes participants along one of the most fascinating routes in the Mediterranean, covering over 500 nautical miles across the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian Seas. It is a technical and sporting challenge that puts professional crews and boat owners to the test against a backdrop of great beauty.

The Palermo-Montecarlo is part of the major international sailing circuits, including the Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Challenge (IMA), the Italian Offshore Championship organised by the Italian Sailing Federation, the Mediterranean Offshore Trophy, the UVAI Owner of the Year Trophy, the IRC Mediterranean Inshore and Offshore Championships and Trophies, and the Class40 Mediterranean Trophy.

In addition to its competitive aspect, the event serves as an important opportunity to promote the sea and sailing culture, showcasing Palermo as the starting point for one of the most highly regarded offshore regattas on the international scene and helping to strengthen the link between sport, tourism and the Mediterranean.
