Wheat Festival
Detail
The Wheat Festival returns to Chiaramonte Gulfi on 13 and 14 June 2026 for its fourth edition, transforming the historic centre into a vast space dedicated to rural culture, ancient Sicilian grains and local traditions. The event celebrates the link between agriculture, gastronomy and local identity through two days packed with events, tastings and performances.
The stars of the event are the ancient Sicilian grains, showcased through craft and food markets, stalls dedicated to local specialities, and educational and demonstration workshops on traditional bread-making and the history of the island’s ancient cereal varieties. Over 40 exhibitors from across Sicily will present typical products, crafts and specialities linked to wheat culture.
The programme also features re-enactments of traditional bread-making methods, parades of Sicilian carts, horses and carriages, folk groups, historical processions and events dedicated to promoting folk traditions. There will be plenty of live music, shows and entertainment for all ages. On Saturday 13 June, a cabaret show featuring Mariuccia Cannata, known as Pipitonella, is scheduled, whilst on Sunday 14 June the festival concludes with a performance by Joey and Rina and an evening of group dancing in the square.
