Feast of Saint Lucy 2025 in Syracuse

Detail

From Dec. 9 to 26, Syracuse comes alive with celebrations dedicated to St. Lucy, the city’s patron saint, in an event that weaves together faith, culture and tradition.
This year, the arrival of the martyr’s body from Venice will make the celebrations even more special, enriched by solemn liturgies, processions and moments of recollection in symbolic places of devotion, such as the Cathedral and the Basilica of St. Lucy at the Sepulcher.

The procession of the simulacrum and relics will be held Dec. 13, through streets of the historic center to the Basilica al Sepolcro.
The arrival of the Saint’s remains on Dec. 14 will be welcomed with a celebration at the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Tears, followed by a procession.

The relics will remain in the Cathedral until Dec. 26, before being transferred to other Sicilian localities that venerate St. Lucy as their patron saint.

A unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the spirituality and centuries-old traditions that make this feast one of the most significant moments in Sicilian religious life.

The program is always in definition, we recommend you consult the website of the municipality of Syracuse for updated news.
