The celebrations in honor of St. Lucia, patron saint of Syracuse, reach their peak in the magnificent processions that accompany the silver statue of the Saint, between huge lit candles and the crowd of barefoot devotees, on December 13th from the Cathedral to the Church of St. Lucia to the sepul cher, December 20th in the opposite direction, while the fireworks displays on arrivai at the Umbertino Bridge and the return to the Cathedral conclude the festivities.
Exhibitions, debates and round tables reinforce the twinning with Lucia of Sweden every year.
